Podcasts are a mom’s best friend. Well, that and coffee.
If I’m in urgent need of mood-boosting words or inspirational motivation, I’ll turn to a podcast. They’re easy to rely on while working my way through days full of diapers, dishes, and deadlines. There’s no shortage of excellent shows and speakers to listen to in order to gain perspective on the nuances of motherhood.
During my first four months of matrescence (listen to the first podcast for more info on this relatively new term), I found a handful of episodes that made me feel better about the emotional rollercoaster that I was riding. Although I was blissed out on my new babies, I was also a little confused and lonely. I was actually very confused and lonely. That’s where these podcasts came in.
Please know that the first few months can be extremely exhausting, amazing, and terrifying. I was there and I’m not too far ahead of you (my twins just turned 11 months). I hope that these podcasts help to shed some light on the commonality of your feelings while offering some light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there, love. You’re doing great.
