You found me! I’m so glad you did.
My name is Donyial and I’m a mom to identical twin girls. I’m fairly new to this whole motherhood thing, but I have plenty to say about my experience thus far.
While navigating the complexities of life as new twin parents, my partner was called to deploy overseas with the U.S. Navy. Though I was stunned by the thought of raising twin babies without him, I realized that I had been gifted an amazing opportunity for growth. I wrote about the experience, which was selected and featured on Motherly. This inspired me to continue to seek and support other mothers through writing. The idea for Mothering Multiples was born!
It is my hope that in sharing my thoughts, vulnerabilities, and recommendations, you can feel validated and encouraged in your role as a mother to multiples. The goal of my blog is not only to share my stories but to allow you to share yours. I hope to feature moms of twins, triplets, quadruplets, and other higher-order multiples in order to offer camaraderie in the chaos. There seem to be so few spaces that bring all moms of multiples together to offer honest support, reflection, and advice. I hope to create and provide that space here.
Just to give a disclaimer: I am not a mom-fluencer and I’m not sure that I could handle the pressures of constantly being “on.” I’m certainly not an expert on motherhood, but I do know what it’s like to feel alone within its foreignness. I’m familiar with the ups and downs of feeding, playing, teaching, and comforting that swallow your days whole. I know all about the daily grind that keeps you up at night even while desperate for rest. I’m with you.
I extend a heartfelt invitation to connect with you so that we may travel this rather bumpy road together. You are not alone in facing the miracles and challenges that accompany mothering multiples. I hope that you can find solace (and maybe some crumbs of knowledge) in this space.
Now, can we be friends? They say it takes a village and Lord knows…we need one.
